This paper presents an in-depth comparison of the benefits and limitations using a low-voltage DC (LVDC) microgrid versus AC with regard to integration low-carbon technologies. To this end, novel approach for charging electric vehicles (EVs) on distribution networks by utilizing LVDC backbone is discussed.
